laptops cpu (Core i5 2450M) is running hot (73 degrees) and always locked in turbo boost even when browsing with just one tab. It's currently locked at 2893 MHz. Its base clock is 2.5 GHz. Disabled other apps from background and just running one browser tab but it's still clocks high. Any suggestions? Should I update BIOS? I've already updated all drivers. |

Is the power options in control panel set to Performance? That will run the CPU at full speed all the time. I guess you have the power saving options for the CPU enabled in your BIOS, right?

In windows it was set to Balanced. In advanced power settings, under processor power management, the maximum processor state says: 100 percent on both Battery and plugged-in. Didn't check in bios yet.

I think he wants turbo on, just not all the time and when it is not needed.

yes I want it on but not all time. As it drains battery. My hdd failed the long test from sea tools and hd tune. Also had a bsod last night, wasn't able to check its code. Guess I'll need dumpchk.exe to view minidump files.
