I'm thinking of getting a 20Mb fibre connection, but the ISP has capped it at only 40Gb monthly download. This will be supporting 2x iphones, 2x iPads and a laptop. It'll be used for film/tv downloads, streaming and online gaming (as well as the usual emails and general surfing) how long do you think it'll take before we hit the cap? |

I'm guessing that we'll be dry for half the month each month (or am I wrong)

A film can easily be 2GB, it could be much more depending on the quality. A TV episode half a GB. Don't bother with capped.

Yeah, as I suspected. What's the point in offering you a good speed only to cap it?

20 meg fibre I get virtually that on ADSL is it so bad in your area you can't just have a decent ADSL unlimited package? You'll blow through 40Gb easy on video streaming alone. Unlimited is worth it |

It will only be as fast as your router is capable of handling. Otherwise, you get what you pay for.

Every ISP here give you a router that is capable of dealing with the speeds they provide.

Go with talk talk, cheap truly unlimited fiber broadband for twenty seven pounds a month

No no no. Talk talk are s**t!! I had to threaten them with court action just to get my connection on. Engineer fitted everything and it took a day and half to get the internet on, despite it being a managed install. after my phone calls about hidden charges they changed the website and the tv advert so its all displayed. Not to mention I have a 12month discount because of their balls up, and free channels on youview for 6 months. there customer service team is rude and dont give a toss. Speaking to them is like talking to a r*tarded ape on acid. |

I have had Sky for a while and they are great. Their customer experience is great in my opinion as well. When I thought my connection could be faster after the first automatic tests I rang them up and said it should be faster and they just set the speed to maximum and re ran tests, no problem.

talktalk have improved but they still rank poorly when compared to other providers. Virgin media has had the best report and currently offers the fastest fibre in the uk and plusnet are also highly recommended, and Sky.
