For some reason Windows 10 no longer correctly finishes discs for me. Tried using the built-in burn option (SEND TO DRIVE) and infrarecorder... Both leave the discs in an ''open'' state with some amount of free space and filesystem of UDF. Tried CDBurnerXP (portable x64) and the option ''finish disc'' worked fine on 1st try leaving the disc with 0 bytes of free space and filesystem as CDFS. Also i tested the burning with an external drive too and got exactly same results.

I was basically making a mp3-cd. Anyway it is a software thing, not a hardware one. Which i'm glad about knowing that the laptop's burner is not broken physically. Also obviously the disc works correctly on devices that can read mp3s off a disc now.

DVD as a video format storage is obsolete thanks to Blu-Ray. As a data storage it can still have its uses even though some microSD cards can hold quite a few jiggabytes of datas. MP3-CDs are kinda like what cassette tapes were back in the 90's, dvd is mainly a storage format and blu-ray and/or streaming h264 or even h265 are mainly for video.

i think i have like 5 devices that read mp3s. Few portable and some not-so-portable. The DVD Player is like from 2000 when mp3 and video cd playback were very hot sheet. The portable mp3-cd player is from 2003 (a Sony knockoff called COBY). Next is Creative MuVo from 2004 1GB and uses regular AAA-batteries. --TIMESKIP to 2012 Philips GoGear RAGA 2GB + FM-Radio (a radio is a must for me nowadays) 2016 A Sony CD-Player / Radio with USB and MP3-CD playback. Basically a common kitchen radio.

also i rip my stuff to FLACs as primary storage and export from them into whatever format is needed. Mainly mp3 VBR V0. (to save some space because of mp3-cds, otherwise CBR 320)
