USB 2.0 was released in April 2000 (now called Hi-Speed), adding higher maximum signaling rate of 480 Mbit/s (due to bus access constraints the effective throughput is limited to 35 MB/s or 280 Mbit/s), in addition to the USB 1.x Full Speed signaling rate of 12 Mbit/s.(17)(18)

Transmission rates mean squat as 99 percent of motherboards use dedicated usb controllers just like rasperry pi does
|

@norega | 25 July 14 | |
Hundreds of thousands of people using rasperry pi as a server and even usb minning yet a spotty guy on a wap site says no

I still have a optical drive in my main computer and i use it occasionally Its good to still have that option and it does not take up that much space otherwise it would just be an empty slot in my case.
