On my general desktop Raspberry Pi 3B+ I installed Kodi because Banshee media player won't run properly on Debian Stretch OS. |

I've set up 'one-click encoding to FLAC' in fb2k. Pop in a disc, get tags from freedb, cover image from discogs and then click convert - FLAC. The profile creates the folders and files automatically from the tags.

Basically copied the profile over just changed output folder to /mp3 and changed the encoder to LAME and the output as MPEG-1 Layer 3 Variable Bit Rate V0

I thought FLAC was old school now?

No. It is like CDDA/WAV but 'MODERN' since 2001. Tags and Compression just to name a few perks. Number-one lossless format.

There are at least three better codecs than FLAC since then. Don't ask me what they are, I am pretty sure they are not available on my laptop because I just recently heard of them.

Technically there are better codecs than MP3 too, except they are not supported like MP3 is. same for FLAC. It is pretty much like MP3 = JPG FLAC = PNG
