@ ungers - 28.02.16 - 02:46pm Seagate does not have a set pattern for failure, it fails more than any other harddrive, Google harddrive failures, Seagate takes the cake.......but it should not bother the average user, but i prefer a drive less likely to fail.....just my opinion.... tnxx no wonder my 8 yr old wd is good..health shows 100 while the seagate health shows 82 via 3rd party tools...il go for the WD blue 1tb |

To finish what i wanted to say, never, ever buy WD Green.........highest failure rate of them all...........

Yes, it will be ok....WD gives u a 3 year warranty, but that aint the point.....the idea is to prevent data loss.....Failure apart, I lost almost 2 terrabytes worth of Mp3 music due to a virus......tip.....zip any important data.....it is less likely to become infected, unless it is already infected.....use a good antivirus, my choice is Avira.....

You can also make a raid array with flash drives and usb hub.....I got one, four Kingston 32 gb memsticks, I made it into a ssd, and combined it to be 1 external drive.....120 gb, still going strong after almost a year......

And it was cheap....never remove one, or change the order it was inserted......u can go higher, but then u will need external power for the hub.....I use mine to backup iso images of software and games that I keep in case I need a fresh copy of let's say Windows or whatever......

If your Computer can boot from usb, then it can be used as a 'internal' drive as well.....make sure u use the same size and make of memory sticks, as the read/write speed will give u endless frustration........

I did this as an experiment, as it seems stable and reliable, my next assembly will be 250 gb flashdrives.....but it won't be soon, as I have a shoebox full of usb harddrives, and the 250gb flashdrives is still kinda hard to get ova here, and it is expensive...we are a 3rd world Country....I won't buy from ebay..... |
