''faulty C1 stepping'' in Haswell put me off. ''Earlier this month it was reported that Intel began to inform its partners that when a PC system with Core i-series Haswell and 8-series chipset inside wakes from S3 sleep mode, it experiences issues with devices connected through USB 3.0. Intel seemingly defines the issue only as a nuisance for end users, as there would be no serious unpleasant consequences, such as data loss. A quick fix for the problem, which may result in blank PDF pages

failure to resume playback, is already known: a restart of applications. In order to solve the issues with USB 3.0, a new chipset revision is required.'' http://www.guru3d.com/news_story/intel_haswell_to_arrive_in_low_volume_until_usb_3_issue_is_fixed.html

Think that fault has been fixed .Just unplug your usb device if not.

I haven't heard anything about a fix. Says a new revision is required. Knowing that the fault is there put me off. Intel will already have loads of them chips ready to ship and they plan to. While the issue wouldn't affect most people very often, it would still be a nuisance to have to worry about it.

So on Haswell you get a few more instruction sets, slightly better performance, lower power requirement and faster integrated graphics. I didn't think it was worth it tbh and bought Ivy Bridge. The performance isn't much. The lower power requirement means that some PSU's might need replacing (depending on what the mobo manufacturer does) and I will always be using discrete graphics.

And they put out more heat.

''Chinese i7 4770K review (Haswell mobos + processor are out there). Its 1-5pc increase at best over Ivy, also yeah it runs hotter + its sometimes even sloweron performance. I would still recommend Sandy Bridge if you pure gamer and dont own insane watercooling to get most performance out. There was recently insane offer in CDon.com (i7 2600K for 160). ''

the performance between a sandy and ivy is about 4.7ghz ivy vs 5ghz sandy and ivy has more new features aswell. sandy is a better clocker but will not outpower a ivy
