Dating is when you are going out with someone for the sake of marriage, just to know his/her behaviour. While relationship is hanging out with someone mainly to get pleasure and have fun together.

The simple meaning is that relationship has to do with just ordinary friendship which may or may not involve s*x. And this is for a short term. While that of dating has to do with moving together with one another for the sake of one goal and that is marriage. And this is for life time. I hope its clarified.
