Since the word church never existed during the time of the apostles, it simply means that they must have been a part of something else before it became known as the church. It is well known that the Greeks translated the Brit Chadesh or New Testament into Greek. It therefore follows that they translated almost everything into Greek, including the name of the body to which the apostles belonged. The name of this body was translated to Ecclesia or Ekklesia. Ecclesia was later translated by the Romans to Circus or Circulus.
