LIMBS The texture of the soul is a liquid, that casts a vermilion flood. From a wound carved as an oath, it fills the river bank a sanguine fog. These arms were meant to be lost! Hacked, severed and forgotten. The texture of time is a whisper, that echoes across the flood. It's hymn resonates from tree to tree, through every sullen bough it sings These boughs were said to be lost! Torn, unearthed and broken Earth to flesh, flesh to wood, cast these limbs into the water. Flesh to wood, wood to stone, cast this stone into the water... |

FIRE ABOVE, ICE BELOW The woeful silence and wind's reflection, of your body's pale ode, an icy fortress of blood and ages. Sky fire above, ice below the hearth. Fall away from me, to that citadel at the end of time, where death sleeps, and dreams of your buried pain. There has never been a silence like this before. There will never be an ode like this again... |

NOT UNLIKE THE WAVES Aurora swims in the ether. Emerald fire scars the night sky. Solstafir! Amber streams from Sol, are not unlike the waves, of the sea,nor the endless horizon of ice. Solstafir! Aurora swims in the ether. Emerald fire paints the twilight.... Heidrun bleeds the golden nectar, for the raising sun and the moon. The midnight wolves who watch over the dawn. Solstafir! |

THE FORTRESS IS BURNING II - BLOODBIRDS The God of man, is a failure. Our fortress is burning, against the grain of the shattered sky. Charred birds escape from the ruins, and return as cascading blood. Dying bloodbirds pooling, feeding the flood. The God of man is a failure, and all of our shadows, are ashes against the grain. |

FALLING SNOW The water pours it's embracing arms 'round the stone. Decay drips from the unquiet void, where the ice forms, where life ends The stone is by the crimson flood,swa11owed. The red tide beyond the ebon wound, contorted. My sacrifice bids farewell in this river of memory, a wave to end all time Red birds escape from my wounds, return as falling snow, to sweep the landscape, a wind haunted, wings without bodies. The snow, the bitter snowfall. You long to die in her pale arms, crystalline, to become an ode to silence, in the soul of a mountain of birds, fallen. The cascading pallor of ghostless feather. The snow has fallen and raised this white mountain, on which you will die, and fade away in silence... |

Out of all the bands i was introduced to not all that long ago, agalloch would have to be in my top 5 favourites. I find they are easy listening not to heavy, with some songs id even say they give quiet a relaxing feel. As funny as this may sound i can meditate with agalloch as the background music. :o)

AGALLOCH Ashes aginst the grain Agalloch , an unknown act to me up untill a couple of month ago, and as you know in 2006 Released an alb*m entitled ''ashes against the grain''. Ashes begins, as they offten do, with track one: Limbs, Which stars out with an almost eriery tone before the drums are allowed to thunder in alongside, after 40 seconds or so passes, raising erieness to full on rock, which then slows right back down again to a steady enchanting sway ,only to once again be gradually raised to a more commanding metal sound, this time with the additon of suprisingly clear growels, the song continues in this rollercoster type fashion for the remainder of its 9minute duration, good eh?, i could continue to go through track by track over the entire album, but LImbs pretty much sets the standard with additional ''clean'' vocals following the harsher ones, dont want to compare to Opeth,so i wont, but its what i thought by the end Falling snow,Sorry! a comparrisson i will make, is that''Unlike the wave'' nearly has a Forefather-ish feel. ,also what came to mind is you wouldnt need to be a godlike editor to tie the entire alb*m together as one compleate work..to me its meant to be swollowed whole..in short i can take it or leave it ![]() |

Listening to the Ashes Against the Grain alb*m now and it's brilliant! Would need a lot more listening for me to completely get into it but it's working great while I'm laying in the dark.

Has anyone heard their latest endevour? I've read 2 reviews stating something to the effect that is utterly dull and bores one to tears, however I am also really enjoying ashes aginst the grain, as well as their White Birch EP. Even my 5yr old nephew is going on about how awesome it is, lol! I'm hoping the reviews on the new alb*m are just the opinions of ppl who simply are not into this type of music... Their loss, then. :) |

Sorry haven't heard it yet. But seems like those critics have just listened to the alb*m once and haven't really tried to get into it. Agalloch is something you need to listen to again and again.
