The Seventy weeks prophecy of Daniel 9 is an amazing prophecy, that: (1) Gives a Probationary time line for the Nation of Israel to Repent of their sins, refrain from transgressing the Everlasting Covenant that God made with them AND also the return to Statues, Ordinances and Judgments in the Law of Moses. At the End of this Seventy weeks probationer period, if the Nation fail to return to God; to keep his Covenant that he enjoined with them, and to perform the Statues, ordinances and judgment that were written in the Law of Moses. Then they would cease to be a Nation before God and thus would no longer be fit to be called his chosen people. (2) Accurately predicting the time of the Messiah's arrival, the institution of the Promised Covenant, the sacrificial death of the Messiah, and things that the Messiah would do at different time in his ministry. |

DANIEL 9:24 24. Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. |

How manys days are their in Seventy weeks? It's a simple Math... First of all we have to find out how many days are there in a week. And if you were to read Genesis 1 & 2 you will see that there are Seven days in a week. So then you would have to simply multiply the Seven days x Seventy which will give you 490 days |

But this time line that the angel gave Daniel is a prophetic time line, meaning that the days mentioned are NOT Literal days, rather its a prophetic day. And if you were to read the Book of Numbers where God told the Israelities through Moses that he was going to let them wander the wilderness for forty days and Moses then said to the people, that those Forty days represents Forty years NUMBERS 14:34 34. After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise. |

Also, God told Ezekeil that he is going to punish the Tribe of Judah for forty days but he was speaking forty prophetic days, which amounts to forty years. EZEKIEL 4:6 6. And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year. |

Bible Scholars both Jewish and non Jewish calls this principle of a day representing a year. The day-year principle. |

Therefore: In applying the day-year principle to the 490 days time line we will get NOT 490 literal days rather we will get 490 years

So God gave the Nation of Israel a 490 years probationer period to return to him; to return to his covenant with them AND the statues, ordinances and judgments laid out in the Book of the Law or else they will ceased to be a Nation before him. And they will no longer be fit to be called his people.

Now, whenever we are given a prophetic time line we have to first established a starting point for that time line. And in the Book of Daniel chapter 9, the Angel Gabriel not only gives the starting point for the time prophecy, but also he gave some events that will transpire during that time line. |

DANIEL 9:25-27 25. Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem... |

But Jerusalem was broken down and utterly destroyed at this time, from the time when king Nebudchadnezzar and his armies went to Jerusalem besiege the city and destroyed. (2 Kings 25:8-13) And that decree or command to restore and rebuild Jerusalem can be found in the book of Ezra, because the prophet Ezra was living in the time when the decree/command was given to go restore and rebuild Jerusalem. |

- There were actually four commands issued that can be located in scripture and must be considered: (1) Ezra 1:1-14, 1st year of Cyrus, dated to 537 B.C. (2) Ezra 6:1-12, 2nd year of Darius dated to 520 B.C. (3) Ezra 7:1-27, 7th year of Artaxerxes dated to 457 B.C. (4) Neh 2:1-8, 20th year of Artaxerxes dated to 444 B.C. |

So, if there were four different decrees that were given to restore and rebuild Jerusalem, then how do we know which of the decrees to apply? The answer is found in Daniel Chapter 9 DANIEL 9:25 ...the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. Now, there is only in one of the decrees that there were given, that there was troublous times and that was at the time of the Third degree which was the year 457 B.C. |

@elijah_2 | 24 March 11 |
The troublous times mentioned by Daniel in chapter 9, is described in (Ezra 4:23-24). Which was in the year 457 B.C.

Therefore: Having established the starting point for the 490 years time line we can being to put it all together. If we were to Add 490 years which is the length of the Seventy weeks time line, to 457 B.C. Which was the starting point or the year when a degree was given to restore and rebuild Jerusalem in troublous times, we reach to the year 34 A.D. 457 B.C. + 490 years = 34 A.D. |
||

@elijah_2 | 24 March 11 |
So in putting all what we have learned together. God gave the Israelities a 490 years probationary period starting from 457 B.C. and will extend to the year 34 A.D. for them to return to his covenant AND the statutes, ordinances and judgments written in the Book of the Law of Moses. And if they fail to return to him during that period, then they will ceased to be a Nation before him and they will no longer be fit to be called his people. Furthermore; God also gave Daniel and his people some list of events that would transpire between the beginning and ending of the probationary time line. |

DANIEL 9:25-27 25. Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 26. And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27. And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. |

Events that will transpire within the 490 years time period are: 1. After 62 weeks have run off starting from the year 457 B.C. Then the Messiah will come. DANIEL 9:25 25. Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: |

Now, in math a score equals 20 so, threescore would be (3x20) which equals to 60 Therefore; in Adding seven weeks + threescore (60) weeks + two weeks it equals to 69 weeks. 7+60+2=69 weeks |

To find out how many days there are in 69 weeks? All we need to do is to find out how man days make up a week, and as we have seen previously, that there are seven days in a week. So all we need to do is to multiply seven x 69 weeks to find out how manys days are there in 69 weeks 7 x 69 = 483 Therefore: 69 weeks is equal to 483 days |
