The board runs a version of Linux and is aimed at software developers and for teaching software design in schools and colleges in the hope people will create new applications on it. The computer has a hdmi out for connecting to a monitor. The computer supports upto 1080p resolution and will play video also in 1080p. Gaming performance is also very good. Also there is 2 usb ports for keyboard and mouse, audio out, an SD card slot for OS and applications, and a network port for an internet connection.

The board has a low power consumption typicaly about 1watt under heavy processing tasks so battery power is possible. The board is being produced in china to keep costs down and is being sold through Farnell and RS electronic component suppliers. They have experienced difficultys with there websites due to the rush of extreme demand for the new board. The board has a very low cost of only 25gbp. making it a very affordable alternative to a desktop PC.
