Gotta reach level 10 in Rocket League to be able to take part in ranked matches. I just kept playing 4v4 until i hit it. A ranked match gives +1000 exp per match.

Also there are 384 demos in the eShop too. Demos are quite important... You may find something cool. For example i wouldn't have even known the true fear games without demo versions.
