This is simply not true. Even the NES had games that would receive a ''mature'' rating by today's standards. |

The ESRB nor PEGI did not exist back in the NES days.

You make your own game library by your choices alone. The amounts of kiddy games and/or shovelware in a particular consoles library does not define the console for true gamers. I'm referring to Sony Playstation btw.

Companies make games for ALL AGES although the games aimed at certain demographics like say... 7 year old pony-loving barbie fan ... The games made for them are often obvious cash-grabs with subpar quality. Why? Because nobody gives 2 sheets about these games, so they are never reviewed by any self-respecting party and thus they (developers) don't even care how low quality the end product is.

I remember Disney being a decent exception. They had some actual effort put into some of their games. Big name companies have some reputation to try and maintain y'see.

Nintendo's standards are: Brutal Mutilations are OK, while s*xual Content IS NOT. Doesn't stop some companies pushing out heavily censored/cut x x x games on Nintendo's platforms.

Switch has triple X games, but without the triple X content... They somehow got ''new'' Larry 2 down to PEGI 16 too

Reminds me that some recent games got slapped with PEGI 18 rating because the games had gambling in them...

... and it was virtual gambling, not actual real-money gambling. Basically casino minigames found in various games may bump up the rating.
