So what distributions have you all used, which one do you like the best, and why is it your choice? Ive only used debian 2. I like it fine except I switch the default window manager to ICE. |

I have tried SUSE, SimplyMEPIS and Ubuntu... and my fave is UBUNTU!! I've just upgraded to Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon (the latest version) and it is by far the best OS I have ever used. Ok, so mp3/dvd/nvidia accelerated graphics dont come supported out of the box - but the necessary drivers are easily downloaded and installed, and then you have an OS that cr*ps all over Vista and OSX. Ubuntu demonstrates that Linux is ready to take over the desktop... if only more people knew about it!!

I'm using ubuntu 8.04 at the moment its my favorite so far. I've tried mandriva, fedora, open suse and knoppix. i like fedora i was using fedora before ubuntu. i like open suse but had nothing but problems when installing it grub could never find the correct partition and with mandriva my internet never seems to work or it freezes.

Been away from installing/running Linux myself a few years now... or more like a decade lol I've used various distros in different places though. Ubuntu (regular) and Mint mainly. |
