WE DON'T LEARN CHRIST FROM THE CHRISTLESS!

You, however, did not come to know Christ that way (Eph. 4:20 NIV).

Christians are not to live like the Gentiles (heathens, pagans) do. We once
did, but no more. Here Paul tells us that we do not learn Christ
(Amplified) from those who are living a Christless life. That stands to
reason. William Paul's translation reads, But you people did not learn
Christ that way [i.e., the above described life is not compatible with a
commitment to Christ]. Be sure to read the context (vs. 17-19).

I am always a little concerned when I see the ways of the world creeping
into the as*emblies of the church. Sometimes it is in the form of a song
that has nothing to do with Christ or a video clip that is from a Hollywood
produced movie that really has nothing to do with Christ. Sometimes it is in
the form of sensual or immodest dress. Sometimes it is speech - vulgar
vernacular - that may be hip or cool but does not reflect the mind or
tongue of Christ. We do not learn Christ from those who have nothing to do
with Christ. The world doesn't want to learn from Christ. Why should those
who know Christ want to learn from the world? You don't learn Christ from
the Christless.

Prayer: Holy Father, we thank You for those who taught us about Christ in
sincerity and truth. Prevent us from ever wanting to learn Christ from those
who do not love or accept Him as Your Only Begotten Son!
