Sharz i think there is an error in the second part of ur question. When the two digits are reversed the number DECREASES (not INCREASES ) by 18. The answer is 42 *sorry i said mistakened it for Quadratics but it is just Algebra *

Assume the two digits are X and Y respectively. X is on the 'tens' column while Y is on the 'ones' column therefore XY can aswell be written as (10X +1Y or Y)..... When the two digits are added i.e X+Y the number decreases by 36. Hence X+Y=10X+Y-36... When they are reversed i.e 10Y+X (same as YX) the number reduces by 18..hence 10Y+X=10X+Y-18... Thus u have two equations i.e X+Y+36=10X+Y and 18=9Y-9X... Sort out the first equation and you find X to be 4. Replace X in the second equation and you find Y to be 2 hence XY=42...... Confirm from the question i.e 4+2=6 and 42-6=36..same as 42-24=18**finis**
