Jesus makes it plain that repentance includes changing our thoughts. mark7:20-21 What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. For from within, out of the heart of man, proceed evil thoughts... -HE explains what defiles us comes from within. He gives examples of the most basic evil attitudes and passions that dominate our thinking and behaviour: ... adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man. (mark7:21-23) |

Isaiah states plainly that repentance is changing the way we think. (Isaiah55:7) Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, and HE will have mercy on him... - Here Isaiah pinpoints two things we must forsake to receive GOD's pardon: sinful thoughts and sinful ways.

To repent we must recognise that some of the pulls of human nature are at work in our minds, influencing or even controlling our behaviour. (proverbs23:7) For as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. -A change in the way we think is the most important aspect of real repentance. To do so we need to be transformed by the renewal of our minds (Rom12:2)

We ought to abide in Gods Word,(Rom8:5) for those who are according to the flesh and are controlled by its unholy desires set their minds on and pursue those things which gratify the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit and are controlled by the desires of the Spirit set their minds on and seek those things which gratify the Spirit (
