IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, THE MOST GRACIOUS, THE MOST MERCIFUL. THE FIRST PRINCIPLE Islam is a perfect, comprehensive system which englobes all aspects of life. Consequently, it is a state, country and a nationality by itself, and contains all the necessary ingredients to govern the universe perfectly. It shows moral and power, and reflects mercy and justice within its principles. Islam portrays culture, law, i.e knowledge and judgement, and pursues the practical aspects of science and development. Islam is a matter and while it paves the way for obtaining subsistence and wealth, it provides also treasury, of gain and richness. Its a mission and an ideology as well as jehad and an army. All these aspects are englobed in Islam in the same manner as it is a true dogma and a rightful worship. |

THE SECOND PRINCIPLE: Every muslim will have to turn only towards the Holy Al-Qur'an and the sacred traditions of the Prophet (peace and benediction upon Him) to learn the commands of Islam. In connection wit understandin Al-Qur'an, regard will have to be paid to the grammar of Arabic language and its rules. There will be no room for any elucidation or avoidance of any type in the verses and also help will have to be taken from trustworthy scholars of Hadith to understand well the sayings of Mohammad (pbuh).

THE THIRD PRINCIPLE: The staunch faith and the sincere worship reflect a light that Allah throws in the heart of whomever Allah wishes, among His servants. But the inspiration, the dreams, the visions and disclosing the unknown are not considered as legislative rules: Furthermore, no regard is paid to them if they contradict with the religious teachings and texts.

THE FOURTH PRINCIPLE: The amulets, the shells and the sand, the prediction, the allegation to foretell the future and to reveal the unknown.. All this is abominable and the recorded exorcisms.

THE FIFTH PRINCIPLE: (1) The opinion of the Imam and that of his deputy on subjects wit no text of Al Qur'an and sunnah are taken into consideration as long as they do not contradict a legislative rule. However that opinion can be altered according to particular conditions and different habits of nations. (2) The aim of the worship is to devote oneself to cult of Allah, without taking the significances into consideration.

THE SIXTH PRINCIPLE: (1) Every person is susceptible to have his sayings accepted or rejected, except the Prophet (peace and benediction upon Him) who is reverred. (2) All that is connected to our ancestors ( May Allah be pleased wit them), is worth following as long as it is in accordance with the Holy Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His prophet (pbuh) deserve more to be followed. However, we should not defame nor refute any of these ancestors, but we leave them to their intention because their actions have already reached their end.

THE SEVENTH PRINCIPLE: If a muslim finds within him the ability to investigate and meditate upon the details of religion and their proofs, it will be better for him to follow one of the Imams of ancient theology, and then carry on his investigations upon those proofs as far as possible. If any reliable person, upon whose abilities his heart is fully satisfied, guides him towards the true path wit the help of proofs, he should eargerly hurry towards him. But if he belongs to the scholar class, yet possesses no power of investigation and meditation, then it will be most suitable for him to compensate for this defect of his knowledge.

THE EIGHTH PRINCIPLE: In problems arising from non fundamental matters, differences of opinion should not be the cause of dissension in religion, and their result should not sow the seed of enmity or malice of any kind. Each religious director will surely be the receipient of one award. Then what is the harm in carrying on clean scholarly research in the peaceful and exhilaratin atmosphere of mutual affection, sincerity and love of Allah and searching the way of rectitude by mutual co-operation and help. It is of course necessary to be careful lest this thing should guide towards the pit of biasness or malice.

THE NINTH PRINCIPLE: To spend one's energy upon such problems which have no connection with the activities of life is nothing but a vain act, which has also been prevented by Islamic Law. Those hypothetical commands which have not yet come into existence, all their details part by part come under this command. All questions and minute criticism of facts of the Holy Al-Qur'an which are yet beyond the reach of knowledge and science are also related to this. Again, the problem of superiority among the companions of the Holy Prophet together wit the disagreements occuring among them are also more or less of this nature. Each of them deserve the right of attainin the honour of companionship and each is to gain the reward of his beautiful intention.

THE TENTH PRINCIPLE: The real spirit of Islamic faith is to believe in the unity of Allah, realise His qualities, and believe Him to be exempt from all defects and blemishes. We acknowledge exactly and believe fully those direct verses and correct hadiths containin the account of the epithets of Allah; and we are against Tashbin (considerin Allah to resemble other creatures) and T'atil (considerin Allah to be free of any quality). The differences among scholars in this connection do not interest us. For us, that same view is enough which the Prophet and his companions held: And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: We believe in the Book; the whole of it is from our Lord. (Al Qur'an,lll:7)

THE ELEVENTH PRINCIPLE: Each novelty (Bid'ah) that has entered religion, either by addin to or by omiting certain parts, depending on the desire of men, even if it is to strengthen their faith personnaly, which has no place in shariah (Islamic Law), is a deviation, against which it is our duty to oppose and uproot from its very base by wise and careful means so as not to produce counter effects to be bid'ah.

THE TWELVETH PRINCIPLE: Any novelty whether by addition or omission, and the assiduity in the absolute rites, are subject of juridicial difference where everyone has got his own point of view. There is no harm in examinin the truth by proof and argument.

THE THIRTEENTH PRINCIPLE: Love the virtuous, always respect them and appreciate those qualities which are in your knowledge- this is the way of incurring Allah's pleasure. To us, the virtuous are those about whom Allah Has said in Al-Qur'an: Those who believe and (constantly) guard against evil. (Al Qur'an, x:63).

Their noble deeds (within jurisprudence limits) are facts. They deserve full respect and reverence, but the idea that they too are possessors of some profit or loss should not in any way enter the mind. They not only have no power regardin themselves, but also regardin others. Neither are they capable of benefitin anyone in any way in life nor afta death.

THE FOURTEENTH PRINCIPLE: Visitin graves is a custom of the Holy Prophet (peace and benediction upon him), hence sunnah. In this connection, we are not in favour of particularizin in any way. But the nature of the visit should afta the manner of the Holy Prophet (peace and benediction upon him). Yes, this much should remain clear that askin the occupiers of the graves, whoever they may be, for help of any kind or makin appeals to them calling them to fulfil wants from far or near, or vowing in their names; and in the same way, constructin and adornin graves, coverin them wit sheets, lighting them with lamps, gainin blessings from them and swearing in the name of anyone but Allah, are all introduced novelties or alterations in religion and are counted among big sins, against which it is obligatory for us to combat.

THE FIFTEENTH PRINCIPLE: Invocating Allah (Exalted be He) through an intermediary of His creatures, is a subsidiary difference connected wit the manner of invocation and not wit the affairs of dogma itself.

THE SIXTEENTH PRINCIPLE: The wrong popular habits (usage) do not in any way change the reality of juridicial terms. Yet we should verify the limits of the sense of these terms, and also be aware of the equivocal, in the diverse domains of life and religion- its the named that counts and not the name itself.

THE SEVENTEENTH PRINCIPLE: The dogma is the base of the action. The act of the heart (i.e. Intention) is more important than that of the body; however, the perfection, in both directions, is required.

THE EIGHTEENTH PRINCIPLE: Islam frees the mind, exhorts the mediation of the universe and assigns a high rank to science and men of knowledge. Islam welcomes good and beneficial things to mankind. The Muslim must be the first to seek wisdom, wherever it may be.

THE NINETEENTH PRINCIPLE: Both the juridicial and the intellectual points of view (researches) deal wit different views but they never differ on a decisives fact: a confirmed scientific reality should not contradict wit an established juridicial rule. The conjectural must be interpreted in such a way to conform wit the decisive. If the two points of view, juridicial and intellectual, are conjectural, the juridicial opinion is to be followed, until the intellectual is affirmed or it collapses.
