Revelation 7:3-4 says the 144000 are the servants of God. The sealed of God. Maybe you can explain in more detail....

Pls compare Rev. 14:1 and heb. 12:22,23. Both mentions 'Mount Zion'. Mount zion represents heaven based in heb. 12:22. So, these 144,000 have heavenly hope. What will they do in heaven?

OK so you agree then that the 144000 in Revelation 7 are the same 144000 in Revelation 14. Revelation 7 says the 144000 will worship God in Heaven. Now who do you believe are the 144000? Do you believe it is a literal figure? |

The number 144,000 is literal. How do we know that? It is indicated by the fact that, after mention of the definite number 144000, rev. 7:9 refers to 'a great crowd' which no man able to number'. If the number 144000, were n0t literal it would lack meaning as a c0ntrast to the 'great crowd'. Viewing the number as literal agrees with Jesus' statement at Matt 22:14 regarding the kingdom of heavens: There are many invited but FEW chosen.

Regarding those who have 'heavenly hope' Jesus called them: little flock luke 12:32 says: Have no fear, little flock because your father has approved of giving you the kingdom. this little flock is actually the 144000 JW's. But what about the rest of the JW's? |

@ fabanio,These are not the 'natural Jews'. How do we know that? At Matthew 21:43, Jesus said to the Jews:The kingdom of God will be taken from you(Jews) and be given to a nation producing its fruits. moreover, pls compare the listing of the natural Jews at Numbers 1:4-16 with those of the symbolical Jews at rev. 7:4-8. You will see difference, meaning, those that are in rev. 7 are not the 'natural Jews'. Furthermore, at rev. 14:1, it is said that on the foreheads of those 144,000, the name of the Lamb which is Jesus Christ, and the name of the Lamb's Father which is Jehovah are written. The fact that Christ's name is written on their foreheads means that the 144,000 are dedicated Christians. And the fact that Jehovah's name is written on their foreheads means that they are ordained Jehovah's Witnesses. |

@soldier, the 144000 are the 'little flock' in luke 12:32. What about the other JW's? In John 10:16, Jesus said: And I have OTHER SHEEP which are not of this fold(the 144,000); those also I must bring, and they will listen to my voice, and will bec0me ONE FLOCK, ONE SHEPERD. the OTHER SHEEP are the JW who have an 'earthly hope'. They will be the subjects of God's Kingdom.

QUESTION: if u determine that the jew's are symbolic how come the number isn't?

As I've said earlier, at rev. 7, the 144,000 is contrasted with the 'great crowd' which no one can number. Such contrast would never be necessary if the number 144,000 is not literal. Moreover, at rev 7 and 14, the 'IDENTITIES' are symbolic. For example: the Lamb stands for Jesus; Mount Zion stands for Heaven; the Jews stands for the people of God. However, the QUANTITIES there are literal. For example: the Lamb is just 1, mount zion is 1, the symbolical jews must also be literally 144,000. another reason why we believe that 144,000 is literal is that nowadays, there are only about 9,000 annointed Jehovah's Witnesses who have heavenly hope that are still on earth. These are the remnants of the 144,000. Their small number compared to the other JW's( those who have earthly hope) shows that the number is literal and is now almost completed. |

Quote from coolit above: ''Furthermore, at rev. 14:1, it is said that on the foreheads of those 144,000, the name of the Lamb which is Jesus Christ, and the name of the Lamb's Father which is Jehovah are written. The fact that Christ's name is written on their foreheads means that the 144,000 are dedicated Christians.'' Revelation 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.(KJV) The verse only says the 144000 have the Father's name on their foreheads. Coolit, are you finally in agreement that Jesus Christ is God? |

I'd like 2 knw if these tribe aren't included in the millions john saw in rev 7:9-15 n look what jesus is arrayed in rev 20:13 what significance does this show? so therefore these are the people that will go 2 heaven(saints) and who does the bible clearly states will go to heaven rev 14:12 commandment keeping people so how does this include JW'S apperently JW'S don't keep the commandments. |

Well you can't pick and choose what you want to take literally and what you want to take figuratively from a passage, right. So then, if you believe the 144000 is a literal number, then you must believe that the description of the 144000 is a literal description. Lets have a look at it in Revelation 14: 14:4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins... The 144000 will be virgins apparently. Tough, but can be done. But this also, literally, means none of the 144000 are women, because it says they were ''not defiled with women''. 14:5 And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God. The 144000 have never told a lie and are perfect. That includes no original sin. I would love to meet just 1 perfect man, or even 1 man that has never told a lie. Nevermind 144000 of them. 7:4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel. If you want to take the number literally, you must also take the description literally. That means that the 144000 must be literally descendant from the actual 12 tribes of Israel. Not a symbolic ''new Israel''. Hmmm, if taken literally, then by this description I think the number 144000 is over stated by 144000. Verse 14:5 alone is enough evidence for that. |

Coolit, you said that in Luke 12:32 Jesus was talking about a ''little flock'' which you say is the 144000. Lets read the verse: 12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.[/i] Well clearly Jesus was talking to the ''little flock'' right then, so according to you these 144000 people must have been standing before Jesus on that day. Obviously, Jesus was just referring to His followers that were there listening to Him, coolit, NOT the 144000 of Revelation 7. You also said that in John 10:16 Jesus refers to ''other sheep'' which you say refers to the people excluded from the 144000. I don't think there is a single study guide that interprets it that way. What Jesus meant by other sheep that were not of this fold, was that the other sheep were not Jews. This is a distinct intimation that the gospel was to be preached to the Gentiles a doctrine extremely offensive to the Jews. This prediction of the Saviour has been strikingly confirmed in the conversion of millions of the Gentiles to the gospel. |
