God must have a very, very good reason for giving this command. Why? Because evil spirits cling to, even inhabits such unclean objects. In christianity it is called welcome mats for unclean spirits to gain entrance into your home. God Spirit wont be welcome in a home where idols are displayed for decoration. To have an idol in your house is to give honor to that false god, whether it be buddah, fairies, dwarfs, dragons, etc. Do you have other unclean things, ornaments of animals eg. A rhino or elephant? Just luk at the nature of that animal and the symbolic meaning behind it. Read Leviticus 11 for a list of unclean animals, symbolic of evil spirits. *
