My hero wasn't perfect And no, he couldn't fly He was just a mortal A normal passer-by My hero was very special As special as can be He died when I was only four But he was good to me He'd listen to my stories And always let me play Never once can I remember That he ever told me nay He died of smoking cancer And just like that he was gone He left me with no answer To what was right or what was wrong I can't believe he left me I can't believe he died He never ever broke a law And never has he lied I didn't know what to do so I just cried I hid below the table So no one could see my tears And watched the world with hatred As it snickered and it sneered Just before my hero died He gave a bear to me And if you look on my bed today then you would surely see I still have that same old bear And I still call him Brownie I used to play and talk with him And he would always talk to me But when my hero died I hated that old bear But just then I remembered The he'd always be there From that day on, he's always had a soggy shoulder to cry on And if you'd like to know Who my hero really is Just think about who is there for you And take a wild guess Go to a cemetary and look for an Angel And you'll find he's always there My hero was my Grandpa And you may call me crazy But he would always carry me Whenever I was lazy |
