According to the latest research, the iPhones smart market share now stands at 30 percent, versus 40 percent for the current reigning champion, RIMs BlackBerry. Palms webOS platform rounds out the top three with 7 percent.

Notably missing from the results was Googles Android operating system, which has earned the full support of Verizon of late. If advertising campaigns are any indication, theres a chance Verizon may not be allowed to carry the iPhone once AT&Ts exclusivity comes to an end. According to Verizons chief executive, the decision is entirely up to Apple.
