i like this topic Nick,I know that am saved coz romans 10:9 tells me so,'.if you confess with your mouth,Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,you will be saved,[v10]For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified,and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved' with mo post.

In 1John 2:3 we read'And hereby we do know that we know him,if we keep his commandments.He that saith,i know him,and keepeth not his commandments,is a liar,and the truth is not in him.'Remember always that salvation is the work of God and not of man.Lazarus is a good example of this.

In John6:44 we read 'No man can come to me,except the father which hath sent me draw him:and i will raise him up at the last day.'It is clear here that before we are saved, we are in the same state that Lazarus was spiritualy.We can do nothing to get out of this state.

Ephesians2:8 we read 'For by grace are ye saved through faith,and that not of yourselves,it is the gift of God.'In Ezekiel36:23-30 notice the word 'I' to mean that God did all the work.There is no work on our part that God mentions here.Read Isaiah 5:12-14 = 10:15 =.To believe is as a result of salvation and not the basis for it.

Youre spot on Waitikki! Many people, when asked if they are saved, will answer by saying 'because I believe!' But seriously people, you go round your town, go to the bars, the casinos, the crack houses and w houses, and you ask them if they believe and 90 percent will say they believe. So how do you KNOW that you believe? What is the EVIDENCE that you believe?

Like waitikki said, the Word says that he who keeps Jesus' commandments is saved. If you say you are saved, but you dont keep His commandments, you are a LIAR.

But that is just 1 test. The book of 1 John contains 9 tests to show who the true believers are. In 2 Corinthians 13:5 Paul tells us to EXAMINE ourselves to see if we are in the faith. Dont compare yourselves with others who call themselves Christians, who compare themselves with others who call themselves Christians, compare yourselves with the WORD OF GOD

You see, Paul didnt care about these people's conversion experience, or whether they had said a little prayer one time in their life asking Jesus to forgive them and come into their hearts. He just said EXAMINE YOURSELVES to see if you are in the Faith. Just because you said a prayer at one time in your life doesnt mean you are saved! You have to repent daily! Paul said he died DAILY to the flesh. We have to keep ourselves holy and repent daily!

Many people will say 'well i believe in my heart of hearts that i am saved. My heart tells me i am saved'. Well in Phillipians we read that the heart is deceitfully WICKED! Some people say 'well i just know that i am saved' but in Proverbs the bible says in 16:25 there is a way that seems right to a man, but it leads to death!

1 John 2:3 'and hereby do we know that we know Him, if we KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS' Brethren, do you know that if you hate yourself after sinning, and cannot stand it but feel broken and you just have to repent right there and then to the Lord, this is evidence that you are saved. If you are really sensitive to sin, and absolutely hate sin, it is evidence you are saved. DO YOU TREMBLE AT THE WORD OF GOD? Or do you try and find a loop hole?

In order to have a new relationship with God, you must have a new relationship with sin. You must absolutely hate sin.

And here is something that might make some people very angry with me: IF YOU KEEP SLIDING INTO SIN AND YOU SIN CONSTANTLY AND YOU KEEP BACKSLIDING, there is a good chance you were never really saved in the first place. Because HE WHO BEGINS A GOOD WORK WILL FINISH IT.

Let me explain: if I were to see a teenager at 1am on the street corner buying drugs, I would take him home and tell his father he is a DERELICT FATHER because he has no control over his son. GOD IS NOT A DERELICT FATHER!!!!! If you are truly saved, God will keep you in Him, He will finish the good work that He began. And if you stray from the path God will discipline you and convict you to repent.

In 2Corinthians 13v5 we read'Examine yourselves,whether ye be in the faith,prove your owm selves,how that Jesur Christ is in YOU,except ye be reprobates?

Once you are truly saved, you are CHANGED FOREVER. Suppose we were all to meet for a church service and i pitch up late. I say that on my way to the church i was run over by a 30 ton truck while crossing the street, and that is why i am late. Obviously, you wont believe me! Because if i were to be run over by a 30ton truck, my appearance, my life would be changed forever! Now tell me: WHAT IS BIGGER? A 30 TON TRUCK OR GOD?

If you claim to be saved, but your life is not changed forever, you were never really saved! You might have had an emotional experience, but you werent really saved and you need to get down on your knees and weep before the throne of God and earnestly repent and beg God to forgive you and cleanse you. And if you honestly love God, and I mean LOVE HIM, so that nothing in this world means anything to you because God is everything to you, and you have faith and you study the Word of God, and keep God's commandments, God will forgive you and save you!

In other words, if you continue to sin without feeling any guilt or conviction in your spirit, you are not saved and it was not a heart repentence but a mind repentence. Like n1ck said it was just an emotional thing. There was no rebirth taking place. Thank you n1ck this is an astonishing revelation.
