There were 2 cousins who fell in love with the moon.They each wished that the moon would appear b4 them and marry them.Then 1 nite the moon appeared b4 them but could only choose 1 wife.he told the girls to close their eyes and not open them.he took the girls by their long braided hair and lifted them from the ground,after awhile 1 of them became impatient and opened her eyes 2 find herself falling back 2 earth,landing on the ground without her hair.The other girl opened her eyes when the moon told her so and found herself in the moons house..happy to b his wife..go anywhere u wish.moon said.Just not behind this blanket in the storeroom.she agreed.Nights came and went,the moons wife found herself becoming bored.she went on many walks that lead her to many different paths where she found people laying face down.they always ignored her.she returned home not seeing her husband home she decided to take a peak behind the blanket and into the storeroom.Here she found many pieces of light that moon wore when he |

Crossed the sky.The pieces of light were so beautiful moons wife could not resist trying 1 on.she reached down picked up the piece that was almost full and put it 2 her face.It was stuck there.And her husband was now coming.She ran to the bed and pulled the blanketts over her face.and wept..Whats wrong,asked moon.her reply was,i have a pain in my face and i dont feel well.

Moon became very suspicious and went to his store room noticed 1 piece of light was missing.after hearing his wifes explaination,moon laughed and gently pulled the light off her face.she also was curious of y in her travels ppl were face down ignoring her.Those were stars and shouldnt b bothered while working,he exclaimed.Its clear to me that u need work to do moon replied..since u have shown me that u can carry the moon u can help me.from now on i will carry the pieces of the moon each cycle until its full,and u can carry the pieces of the moon until its dark..So this day forth the man of the moon carries the pieces of light from the time of the moons 1st quater until full,and the woman of the moon carries them from full until the moon grows dark.so they share the duty of carrying the light across the sky..
