Moses prayed and the sea gave way... Daniel prayed and dreams were understood.. Elijah prayed and you know the story...the list goes on! Matthew 7:7, John 14:14, Romans 8:32 challenges us to pray. Still people doubt or don't seem to get answers when they pray. Why is this the case? Is God really answering prayers as before? WHAT'S THE CHALLENGING TRUTH IN THIS? |

TRUTH ONE: Proverbs 28:9, NIV reads 'If anyone turns a deaf ear to the law even his prayers are detestable'. (Remember 2 Timothy 3:16). The way I know today's christians, I consider Proverbs 28:9 as challenging truth especially when James 2:10 comes into play!

TRUTH TWO: James 4:3, NIV reads '...you do not receive because you ask with wrong motives...' Why do you ask for healing when you get sick, for example? Is it because you want to tell others about Jesus or because you want more of worldly pleasure? Check the motive! You CAN NOT pray to GOD (who's nature is love) to curse your enemies, pray that they get saved! This again is challenging truth!

TRUTH THREE: Isaiah 59:1-2 shows sins as a barrier between us and God. Its hard to get answers for our prayers if we sin as mentioned on Hebrews 10:26. Read and study these verses-isn't this truth challenging?

TRUTH FOUR: John 15:7 stipulates that we have to remain in Christ and let His word dwell in us and then ask for anything! Why? So that you should ask according to His will- 1 John 5:14. Do you know how challenging this truth is?

TRUTH FIVE: Matthew 21:22, Mark 11:24 and James 1:6 connects praying or asking God with believing. These days people visit a very sick person, pray for that person but start saying doubtful comments as soon as they leave the person! Belief in God, is it so challenging a truth?

There are many true facts that we can consider under prayer. I found these five facts true yet challenging to many Christians. Re-consider each one of them. Comment, emphasis or ask questions where necessary.
