Indian freedom fighters comprise of a group of individuals who fought against the British rule in the Indian sub-continent. They were the true heroes of Indias struggle for independence against the British Raj. They are the true freedom fighters for the sacrifices they made for their country. Freedom fighters of India are the true heroes of the Indian independence struggle. The actual invasion of Indian freedom started when European reached the shores of this country. This began with the arrival of Vasco da Gama in 1498. The first instance of the freedom struggle erupted in the form of civic disobedience to preserve the cultural and religious integrity of India. The rebellion extended into other areas like taxation, economy and governance to protest against the stifling strategies of the British Raj. Non-Violent rebellions were first launched by the Indian National Congress under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi. His efforts inspired people from all walks of life to fight for the nations cultural, economic, political and religious integrity. |

India is considered as an example because it fought for its freedom with non-violent means likesatyagrahathat does not involve any bloodshed. Mahatma Gandhi is considered as thefather of the nationas without him, the country would not be able to achieve freedom in a non-violent manner. Subhash Chandra Bose was another freedom fighter with more radical ideas. He gave birth to the Indian National Army in 1942 in a militant attempt to put an end to British rule. Mangal Pandey, Rani of Jhansi, Bakhtar Nasar, Bahadur Shah Zafar and Azimullah Khan are some acclaimed freedom fighters of India from the rebellion of 1857. Several freedom fighters emerged in the different states of India to fight the British Raj with the passage of time. Some of the great leaders from northeastern part of India were Bipin Chandra Pal, Chittaranjan Das, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Rabindranath Tagore, Surya Sen, Pritilata Waddedar, Gopinath Bardoloi, Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Khudiram Bose, Prafulla Chaki, Rash Behari Bose, Aurobindo Ghosh, Hemchandra Das and many more.
