The laptop was from Uusix Verstas in Helsinki. They re-furbish machines or simply change the OS of a device from Windows to Linux. Basically they sell/give away machines that have been previously in use by Helsinki City employees.

Brother works for STARA and is entitled to cheaper machines. The Fujitsu one cost a nominal 1 Euro and the new HP laptop cost 20 Euros (Price was 60 Euros for non-employees).

and if a machine breaks on the same calendar year they can get replacement for free or something like that.

And pre-owned laptop prices in actual stores (that basically do the same things as Uusix) are counted in hundreds.
